My car is very loud when driving but excellent when turning right. Why?

Driving straight and turning left my car sounds like its resisting to go above 60, but when I turn right its smooth sailing. Is it my wheel bearings or something else? The noise comes from the left front I believe. Volkswagen golf 1992. Thanks!
